Functioning
The system consists of two components. These are the central server that stores backup data and the clients running on client servers.
The client server also consists of two parts. These are a constantly running service that monitors according to its settings the directories to be backed up and launches backup to the server and a graphic application (UI).
A user name and a password is provided for the service for registering the client to the central server. Each user gets a maximum data volume that can be backed up. This service enables one user name to make a backup only from one server.
The backup frequency and the storage period can be freely set if the data volume backed up does not exceed the quota allocated to the package. The area used up from the quota can be queried with the UI.
Client installation under Linux
Use the link above to download the Linux installation package. The installation package contains binary codes, thus can be run on any Linux distribution that can run java. The installation package must be run with root rights!

During installation, the program has a dialog that guides you through the program's parent directory [default: /usr/local], executable [default: /usr/local/bin], the startup script [default: /etc/init.d], - any or all directories can be overwritten, but default setting - asks if the settings are correct and if you want to upgrade, we're done with the installation.
Client installation under Windows
Use the link above to download the client. The installation package must be run with administrator rights! The following settings must be made in the given windows.
To whom / which user (s) should the program be installed - Next
Where to install the program [C: \ Program Files \ Code42] - Next - the installation location can be overwritten, but the default setting can be retained.
Install
User Account Control may ask you to allow the application to make changes to the device - Yes.
Completing the Code42 Setup Wizard - Finish
After closing the wizard, starting the program, you can log in with the given username, giving the server the following: crashplan05.hosting.adatpark.hu:4282. The system will then ask for the password, which has been sent via SMS to the contact's mobile number.
Configuration for all cases
Under Windows, we need to start the program after installing the client..
Under Linux the client start automatically.
After the client starts, it will ask for the user name and server access name.
For user name, enter the usernever received for the service, the name of the central server: crashplan05.hosting.adatpark.hu:4282, and then the system will ask for the password for the service.
Select the File menu / Add backup set submenu to set the directory(s) / file(s) you want to back up. Here you can see the name of our machine, which you can rename if you want.
In the File seelction: section, after pressing the change button, you can select the directory (s) or file (s) you want to save. If there is a file or directory that we do not see, it is better to click on the 3 dots above and then on Show hidden files to see the hidden content.
Once you have selected the storage you want to save, click the Save button to save it and return to the Add backup set.
Destination: none by default. Click Change to select Default destination, then save.
Then click the Add set button to complete the setup and see how the backup begins.
Then set the backup density and save time.
In the Settings menu on the top right, you can set up the following features:
- General tab: change device name, display Code42 icon in the notification area;
- Usage tab: CPU usage, notifications
- Destination: you can see the connection status of the set destination, the used area, our quota, or delete the our archive.
- Netowrk: you can specify whether / not to save via wifin or lan, or if we were to use wifin, we would not save, which Saved via cable
After starting the client, select the option Existing user and enter the user name and password provided for the service and the name of the central server. It is crashplan01.hosting.adatpark.hu.
- Security: you can set a password to be requested when the application starts, or you can enter it in Account Encryption Key Security security protection next to our password, But. doing so very carefully because, we can't reset an Archive key password or Cusom Then the client connects to the central server.

- Backup sets: here you can schedule the backup so that when, on what day, at what intervals the backup will run, we can select Select under the menu Files the files to be backed up after pressing the button Change... It can occur that the system does not show certain files. To show all files, enable showing of hidden files in the left bottom corner.
Then set the backup frequency and the period of keeping the backups.
